Megan Simmons – Intern

Hailing from Donegal, Ireland, Megan is a recent graduate of the University of Galway, holding a degree in Human Rights, Economics, Sociology, and Politics. Megan is passionate about helping others in their time of need, first putting her skills into practice as a legal intern at a human rights NGO in Malta. Megan’s early career has been focused on research and advocacy to support the world’s most vulnerable, and she takes pride in her role as a contributing researcher for the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.

However, beyond transcripts and files, Megan is most proud of the impact her work has had on people’s lives that can only be documented through human interaction. According to Megan, this may be a simple smile, a shared laugh, or the physical expression of relief and joy.

Megan loves travelling and exploring new places, however, her experience as a Project Children intern last year inspired her to return to McLean Avenue to further support the mission of the Aisling Center. Megan wishes to be a helping hand and friendly face for those who may need it and looks forward to serving the local community and beyond.
