Junior steel estimator needed NYC

Position: Junior steel estimator

 

Prior experience in steel estimating/engineering is a plus but not required as we are willing to train the right candidate.

• Assist in analyzing architectural and structural drawings to determine project requirements.
• Help develop material take-offs (MTO) for steel components including beams, columns, connections, and miscellaneous metals.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Input data into estimating software and maintain accurate cost databases.
• Support senior estimator in preparing detailed bid packages and proposals.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as required.
• Communicate with vendors, fabricators, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
• Keep up with current material prices, labor rates, and industry standards.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in estimating, preferably in structural steel or construction.
• Strong understanding of blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, FabTrol, or similar).
• Good mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: $50,000-$70,000 depending on experience.
