Financial Controller position available General Construction Company, NYC

About the Role – This is a dual role that has Office Management and Controller responsibilities outlined below. This role is critical to ensure the successful management of the office and our fiscal responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the company’s financial health including budgets, tax compliance, Insurances
  • Manage accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Manage cashflow
  • Establishing accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with the hiring, onboarding, benefit administration, training and performance management of employees
  • Manage employee files and documentation, assist with employee benefit questions
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning, employee notifications, and compliance
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements and assist external auditors
  • Ensure IT, supplies, utilities, phones, computers are set up for project start and closed out for project completion
  • Facilitate maintenance of office equipment including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
  • Provide clerical support to assist with assigned administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, and preparing documents
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies; order new supplies as needed
  • Prepare agendas, make travel arrangements, and maintain calendars for management
  • Organize maintenance company to keep the office clean and safe and ensure appliances are in good working order
  • Manage day-to-day company accounts
  • Assist with financial planning
  • Oversee Budget forecasting and cash flow management
  • Ensure government compliance

Qualifications:

  • Several years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Experience in managing payroll
  • Exemplary history of financial project management
  • Strong time-management and people skills, high degree of flexibility, and excellent multitasking ability
  • Proficiency with office applications, and aptitude for learning new software and systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information
  • This position requires a candidate who is experienced and professional, and who works best in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Sage, Procore and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel),
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 3+ years experience in the area
  • Proficiency with current financial software
  • Understanding of US GAAP

Job Type and Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: – 70k – $100k depending on experience – Paid Time off – Health, Vision, Dental – 401k
