Confidential Counselling:

At the Aisling Center we have an experienced and professional social worker who is available Monday - Friday. People can walk in or make an appointment with the comfort of confedentiality and privacy. We are continually reaching out to the community to avail of this service and to feel they have someone with whom they can discuss their problems or concerns.

We also have experienced psychotherapists and counselors available for both evening and weekend appointments, either here at the center or at another location if preferred. If you are finding it difficult to cope or have a particular problem, or if you know someone who is, please let us try to help. Feel free to call into the center to arrange an appointment, or call us at 1914-237-5121/7121.

Social Service Referrals:

Our trained staff are on hand to deal with daily “walk-ins” in need of social service referral information and assistance i.e. alcohol and drug problems; depression and suicide awareness; domestic violence; rape, sexual assault; homelessness; financial problems, relationship issues; emotional and family pressures; pregnancy and health insurance. Our booklet "Mind Yourself" is also a great source for contact numbers and referral information.

Senior Group - Young At Heart :

We have a very lively and enthusiastic group of seniors that meet here at the Aisling Center every Tuesday and Friday afternoon. We frequently invite guest speakers to come in and meet with them to talk about health issues, socialy security, medicaid, retirement and wills, etc.

Activities at the center include card playing, board games, knitting, music and great conversation. Trips are frequently organized to Broadway shows, places of historical interest, shopping trips, etc.

We recently introduced "chair yoga" which has proven to be so popular that it will now be held as a regular class every Thursday @ 3:00pm.

New members are always welcome, so please come along.

We also offer services to elderly people in the community who are homebound by way of a friendly visit, delivery of medication and groceries, etc.

Mothers & Toddlers Group :

At present, we run a Moms & Tots group every Tuesday morning. We have toys, books, crayons, etc for the children to play with and keep themselves entertained while the parents can relax and get to know eachother. It is a great opportunity for mothers from the local Irish community to socialize.

New mothers & toddlers are always welcome to come along. Santa Clause visits the children here at the center every Christmas with gifts while the Easter Bunny calls to see them at Easter. Occasional trips to shows and childrens events are organized throughout the year.

The organization is very grateful to Break For The Border for providing free transport every week and cash, food and clothing donations they receive to help them continue the great work that they do. New volunteers are always welcome.
